Hello Classmates,
Here is my first attempt at a blog.  Not sure what happens next, but I am excited to be here.  Much more to come...:) I felt like I needed to add more as you all were much more personal than I. so here goes.
I am originally a native New Yorker living in the mountains of Southwest Colorado with my husband of 22 years. He had this crazy idea to have a kennel full of sled dogs and become a musher.
Check out our website www.durangodogranch.com.
But we both became teachers to pay for our habit.  I have been teaching for twenty years, most recently developmental English courses at San Juan Community College and I LOVE my job, but without a master's degree, no room for advancement or full time work. This is my second attempt at a master's, I gave up when my kids were born-they are now 7 and 9 and I must get this degree.  I am thoroughly enjoying online classes and learning so much!  I am surprised by this.

  1. I'm really happy to be able to get to know my classmates a bit more, even though this isn't a normal class interaction it is really nice. I wish you the best in the degree you are seeking to accomplish! Is San Juan Community College in Farmington??

  2. I like that you both became teachers to pay for your habits. That's very inspiring to me. I am getting my masters in art education and have no real experience in the classroom, so it is great to know of people who still LOVE their jobs in our field. I look forward to following your blog.

  3. I love reading everyone's first blog. I really feel like I can get a more accurate sense of who they are and where they're coming from with the information they bring to the table. It is so neat that you and your husband have sled dogs. I always thought is would be really fun to try dog sledding. I am a die-hard skier and Durango Mountain is one of my favorite places to shred. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I wish you luck advancing in your job.
